“Helping you build the best relationship possible with your dog through reward-based training and compassionate guidance.”
I’m Paulina Beck, a Master Dog Trainer with over 10 years of experience serving families throughout The Woodlands, Conroe, and Greater Houston. I specialize in behavior modification, leash reactivity, and helping owners develop calm, well-mannered dogs using reward-based, science-backed methods.
My passion for training was born from the lessons I learned from my own challenging dog, Chase, who taught me everything I know about patience, communication, and the power of a strong bond. That journey inspired me to found The Mannered Mutt, where I help owners like you achieve lasting results at home and build the relationship you’ve always wanted with your dog.
The Journey Behind The Mannered Mutt
Every dog trainer has their own story, and this is mine.
My journey into dog training began with a dog named Chase. Originally from a small farming town in Michigan, I moved to Texas in 2009 with Chase by my side, and together we navigated the challenges of city life. Chase was pushy, independent, and willful—the kind of dog who taught me everything about patience, clear communication, and the profound bond that forms when you truly understand your dog. That relationship changed my life and sparked my passion for training.
In 2012, I made a bold decision: I left college to pursue my dream of becoming a professional dog trainer. After graduating as a Master Trainer, I spent years working hands-on with dogs of all breeds, ages, and temperaments. Three years later, I opened The Mannered Mutt with one mission: to help other dog owners experience the same deep connection and joy I shared with Chase.
My training philosophy is rooted in reward-based, science-backed methods that prioritize clear communication, structure, and positive reinforcement over force or aversive tools. I don’t believe in cookie-cutter programs. Instead, I create customized training plans tailored to each dog’s unique personality and their owner’s lifestyle. My approach focuses on teaching dogs how to make good decisions and remain calm in real-world situations, while empowering owners with the skills and confidence to maintain lasting results. Clients often describe me as a partner in their journey, not just a trainer, and many continue to reach out for guidance years after their formal training ends.
Over the past decade, I’ve had the privilege of helping hundreds of families across The Woodlands, Conroe, Montgomery County, and Greater Houston. I work with clients ranging from first-time puppy owners to families with senior rescue dogs. My specialty areas include behavior modification, leash reactivity, separation anxiety, and impulse control. I treat every dog like family and consistently deliver results that exceed expectations.
When I’m not training, I enjoy life in Willis, Texas, with my husband Kent and our pack of eight dogs and three cats. I’m rarely without a cup of coffee in hand, love camping at the beach whenever I can, and I’m a self-proclaimed house renovation show junkie. For me, dog training is a calling. Every dog I train is a tribute to Chase, who started it all.
Professional Credentials & Experience
I bring over a decade of hands-on experience to every training program at The Mannered Mutt. My work is grounded in science-backed, reward-based training and shaped by real-world experience both in professional training environments and veterinary care. This background allows me to approach behavior challenges with a deep understanding of canine health, stress, and communication.
Before becoming a full-time dog trainer, I worked as a veterinary technician for several years, where I gained valuable insight into canine health, behavior under stress, and humane handling. That experience continues to influence how I train dogs today, especially when working with anxious, reactive, or behaviorally complex cases.

Community & Rescue Involvement
While I do not partner with rescues in a formal capacity, I have worked closely over the years with Abandoned Animal Rescue (AAR) and Rufus Refuge, helping support rescue dogs through training, guidance, and transition into adoptive homes. Giving dogs a fair chance at success, regardless of their past, has always been an important part of my work.

Success Stories
Hank, a 2.5-year-old Husky/Pit mix, was out of control. He chased golf carts, killed small animals, and marked on his owners’ bed. They were at their breaking point and weren’t sure they could keep him.
After enrolling in our Board & Train program, Hank worked intensively with trainer Syd while his owners participated in weekly sessions to learn how to handle such an intense dog. Within the first week, there was a noticeable change in Hank’s engagement and focus.
After completing the program and in-home follow-ups, his owners gained the tools to manage unwanted behaviors, disengage him from high prey drive moments, and genuinely enjoy time with him rather than dread it.
Pabu and Toby were having violent fights that sent their owners to the emergency room multiple times. Their desperate owners reached out to the Mannered Mutt, unsure if the dogs could ever safely live together again.
Through our behavior modification Board & Train program and in-home sessions, we taught the owners how to read stress signals, manage interactions, and rebuild trust between the dogs. It required patience, dedication, and time.
After 10 months of following our protocols, Pabu began softening toward Toby. One year later, Pabu hasn’t worn his muzzle in six weeks, and the dogs now enjoy supervised time together. Their owners can interpret stress levels and prevent conflicts before they escalate.
Chewy, a young puppy, was struggling with potty training—one of the most common and frustrating challenges new dog owners face. Her owners needed help establishing a consistent routine and teaching Chewy to reliably potty outside instead of having accidents indoors.
Chewy enrolled in our Potty Manners program, where we implemented rigid scheduling and immeasurable supervision. Every moment inside was purposeful and supervised, with Chewy either on a tether or in her carrying bag until she earned free time. We focused on building a consistent routine and rewarding successful outdoor pottying.
After three weeks, Chewy has her routine and schedule down. She’s now successfully pottying outside and slowly earning supervised free playtime off tether—including play sessions with her favorite friend, Brinkley, at The Mannered Mutt facility. Her owners now have the tools and structure to maintain her progress at home.
This dog had “big diva energy”—ignoring commands, walking her owners instead of the other way around, and acting like she owned the house. Every squirrel was a personal insult, and her owners felt more like servants than leaders. They needed help establishing structure and getting their dog to actually listen.
Working with Paulina and Kent at The Mannered Mutt, the dog went through our training program while her owners received coaching on how to maintain leadership at home. Regular updates kept the family informed throughout the process, and both the dog and her owners learned new skills.
The transformation was remarkable. She still has her personality and sass, but now she listens, walks politely, and doesn’t lose her mind over every squirrel. Her owners finally have the structure and control they needed, and they’re enjoying life with their dog again.
