The Mannered Mutt was born from a relationship with one special dog: Chase. The founder of Mannered Mutt, Paulina Beck, moved to Texas from a small Michigan town in 2009 with Chase, a pushy, independent, and willful dog who taught her everything about patience, communication, and the profound bond that forms when you truly understand your dog. That journey sparked a passion that changed her life.
In 2012, Paulina left college to pursue her dream of becoming a professional dog trainer, graduating as a Master Trainer and dedicating herself to working hands-on with dogs of all breeds and temperaments. She saw countless owners struggling with the same frustrations she once had.
Three years later, she opened The Mannered Mutt with a clear mission: to help other dog owners experience the same deep connection and joy she shared with Chase. We help families build the relationship they’ve always wanted with their dogs.

Kent is the backbone of The Mannered Mutt, managing facility operations and ensuring every dog has a safe, structured, and positive experience. He shares Paulina’s passion for helping dogs and their families succeed.

Post board and train lesson with Poy, Odin and their sisters. These 4 have not been together in the same room at the same time just hanging out since SEPTEMBER! Their parents are doing tremendous with their follow-through and making the required changes to ensure their crew are successful. We worked on rebuilding structure, teaching emotional regulation, and coaching their parents on reading stress signals and managing safe interactions. Now these boys can finally relax together without conflict, alongside their two sisters, and the family has the obedience foundation they need to confidently take them out and about again. Watching this transformation has been incredible. So proud of this family!
When Chewy’s owner found me, she was at her literal wits end trying to get her puppy potty trained! Chewy had no patterns, no schedule, no rhyme or reason. She would go outside and play but NEVER potty until the minute she was brought back inside. Talk about stressful! Through our puppy potty training program, we created a structured schedule, taught Chewy clear expectations, and gave her owner simple steps to follow at home. From the minute she picked her up, NO ACCIDENTS and Chewy is on the best schedule! Now she’s thriving with consistency, and her owner finally feels confident and relieved. Couldn’t have gotten to this point without their commitment!
This handsome Staffordshire Terrier mix joined our board and train program because his family had just learned they were expecting a baby and wanted to be certain their dog was ready for the big transition. They needed structure, confidence, and clear guidance on how to help him thrive in a changing home. During his stay with us, we made his training a top priority while also giving him healthy, positive interactions with other dogs to build better social skills. After graduation, I completed several in-home sessions to teach his family how to maintain consistency and reinforce his new behaviors. Today, he is calmer, better-mannered, and fully prepared for life with a newborn, and his owners feel relieved, confident, and supported every step of the way. Love seeing families set their dogs up for success like this!
At The Mannered Mutt, we believe in giving back to the community that supports us. Our commitment extends beyond individual training programs to helping dogs in need and supporting local animal welfare organizations throughout Montgomery County and beyond.
Abandoned Animal Rescue (AAR)
We are proud partners with Abandoned Animal Rescue (AAR), an all-volunteer nonprofit organization devoted to saving the lives of homeless and unwanted animals in Texas. Through this partnership, we’ve provided FREE Sit2Stay training classes for dogs adopted from AAR, helping rescue dogs transition successfully into their forever homes. Our collaboration with AAR reflects our commitment to ensuring every dog—regardless of their background—has the opportunity to thrive.
